Springfield M1873 .45-70 "trapdoor" cadet rifle. Serial number 11093, made early in 1874. These are pretty scarce rifles with only 3000 having been produced. 29-5/8" cadet length barrel with correct high-arch breech block. Lock markings aren't visible, but has correct early two-click tumbler. Trigger is the correct non-serrated style, with the rifle being upgraded to sling swivels. Early stock has the oval outline of the cartouche visible, but is too worn to see the "ESA" script within. Metal parts are refinished with smooth surfaces. Stock is worn to an open grain texture with numerous moderate marks and several worn old chips and slivers to the ramrod channel, forearm edges, and lock mortise. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
