Springfield M1870 USN rolling block rifle. Marked on right side of frame with large eagle and "USN/SPRINGFIELD/1870" and on barrel with anchor. Metal parts have pitted surfaces and dark patina. Cleaning rod replaced with later 45-70 trapdoor style. Stocks have been cleaned, forestock with handling marks. Rear sight ladder absent. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
