Springfield M1866 "Second Allin" .50-70 "trapdoor" rifle. Dated 1866 on breechblock and 1864 on lock. Metal parts have a light to medium patina overall with evenly worn surfaces. Stock shows wear consistent with the metal and has expected chipping in the cleaning rod channel for a gun that was well used in its time. Has a small crack forward of the front screw, but is free of major cracks and chips. Wood has an added finish from over time. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
