Spencer repeating rifle. Serial number 4011. Metal parts have a mottled medium to dark patina overall with minimal scattered pitting. Cartridge follower in top of frame is broken. Stocks are worn and battered from use, has several sets of initials carved in the forearm, has a sliver missing on each side of the forearm by the frame, a couple long cracks in the buttstock probably associated with the thin wood where the magazine goes through the stock, and some roughness to the edges at the frame and buttplate. The 3 barrel band retaining springs are absent. Magazine is good and functional, and action is functional, aside from the previously mentioned cartridge follower. This is an early Spencer rifle that looks like it saw good Civil War service. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
