C1840-50 Southern "Poor Boy" percussion rifle. Stock with "grease hole" associated with Tennessee gunsmiths. Unmarked except for "WARRANTED" marked lock. 41-1/4" octagon barrel of about .38 caliber. Typical iron mountings, long barrel tang and stock made without buttplate. Has a fancy sideplate repurposed from an older gun or clock. Metal parts have a dark patina overall with some pitting in the bolster area. Stock has a dark patina with average wear and use. Forearm is missing a couple slivers, with a piece of wood missing by the upper ramrod pipe. A very pleasing, uncleaned gun overall. Hammer cocks, but action feels worn, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
