D.H.Hilliard, Cornish, NH marked percussion target rifle. Serial number 1937 on barrel flat. David Hall Hillard lived from 1805-1877 in Cornish New Hampshire and operated as a gunsmith making percussion rifles from 1842-77. 29-1/2" octagon barrel with turned muzzle of about .38 caliber bore. Ramrod, escutcheon screw, and two ramrod pipes are absent. Nice original sights, globe front, rocky mountain rear, and long peep tang sight. Metal is in untouched condition with dark patina and light pitting. Buttstock is worn with two hairline cracks in the wrist and some added finish present. Does not have half cock. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
