Percussion muzzleloading rifle by Charles Stuart of Binghamton, NY, listed from 1851-1883. Marked on top of barrel "CHAS STUART/BINGHAMTON NY". 35" octagon barrel of 0.39" bore. Equipped with a rocky mountain rear sight and folding "lollypop" style tang peep sight. Iron parts have a pleasing patina with some expected pitting in the barrel breech area. Nipple is a modern replacement. Brass parts are cleaned. Deer ornament in cheekrest. Stock is lightly sanded with a repaired crack in the wrist, small chip by triggerguard, and small crack in front of lock bolt escutcheon. Mechanically good including set triggers, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
