C1820-40 flintlock North Carolina/Tennessee mountain rifle. Simple gun with "grease hole" in buttstock, iron heel plate instead of a full buttplate, plain iron triggerguard, and plain brass ramrod pipes. 42-5/8" octagon barrel of about 40 caliber.. Reconverted to flintlock configuration. Metal parts have a dark patina overall except the lower ramrod pipe. Curly maple stock has been lightly refinished, has a crack present in the wrist that was repaired, lock mortise was rebuilt, probably from having been chipped out, small chip opposite lock, and a couple cracks at the end of the forearm. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
