C1840-60 full stock Pennsylvania long rifle with horse head shaped patchbox. 36" octagon barrel of about .32 caliber bore. Metal parts have an attractive medium to dark patina overall. Patchbox cover has side-to-side movement that allows it to open without pushing the button. Nicely shaped cheekrest with spiral carving and crescent moon inlay. Stock also has nice border carving/shaping around the lock mortise and opposite. Maple stock has an attractive light coloration with slight curly grain character. The wood shows average wear and use overall with small chip by forearm cap, minor grain crack along right forearm edge, small spot of repair above the front of the lock and behind hammer, and a crack and small replaced piece in the toe of the butt. Mechanically good with set triggers, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
