Frank Wesson two-trigger Civil War carbine. .44 rimfire caliber 24" octagon barrel with standard Frank Wesson marking and additional desirable "B.KITTREDGE&CO/CINCINATTI, O" with part of the city marking not visible. Kittredge marked carbines were known to have been purchased for state use in the Civil War and were not federally inspected. Serial number 473. Has military features of carbine-style sight and equipped with sling swivel mounts. Metal parts show evidence of cleaning to the medium brown rust patina. One screw missing from frame, and one from lower tang. Walnut buttstock shows evidence of cleaning with a couple sizable dings in right side of wrist/butt, negligible hairline crack in right wrist by frame and tiny edge sliver to left of frame tang. Sling swivels are absent. Hammer does not half cock, does cock fully and release when trigger is squeezed. sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
