Unusual flintlock New England style halfstock target rifle. 47-1/2" part octagon, part round barrel of 1" weight and .60 caliber bore. Marked "MARTIN" on lock. Has New England style triggerguard with pointed "teat" at front and nice horse head patchbox. Nice original front and rear sight, and interesting tang sight that looks like it accepted different apertures. Metal parts are uncleaned with light rust on lock and barrel. Curly maple stock is attractively grained, has a small chip at front of lock and a grain crack emanating from one of the patchbox screws. Hammer cocks properly but sometimes releases when the trigger is set. Trigger set functions as expected. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
