Smith & Wesson first model, second issue revolver. Serial number 77191. Handsomely inscribed on backstrap in gothic lettering "Andrew C. Berry." Unfortunately no history was included with purchase of this gun in a Massachusetts auction, and while there are 11 Union soldiers listed under Andrew Berry without a middle initial, there is one Andrew C Berry who served North Carolina. Metal parts are an original silver plated finish which is near complete except for a little minor bubbling on barrel, a little flaking on cylinder and worn a little on edges of the brass frame. Wood grips are very good with one small corner sliver on left side. Mechanically good except cylinder stop function is a little weak, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
