Flintlock Mediterranean Dag blunderbuss knee gun. 12" barrel with flared muzzle of about 1-3/16" and 21-1/2" overall. Lock signed "G Berleur" for Guillaume Berleur of Liege who is noted as being active from 1780-1840. Gun shows even wear overall with nice sculpting on barrel, engraved lock, sideplate, triggerguard, and buttplate. Triggerguard has a crack at rear. Both sides of butt are inlaid with a fancy cutout silver sheet with line engraving. Wire inlaid around barrel tang with much of the wire absent. Stock has extensive carving in butt with herringbone pattern on the wrist and forearm. Barrel has a period leather band that is well-worn. Ramrod is only 6-1/2" long and serves as a decoration. Stock has a crack at rear of lock, crack over sideplate, and several lateral cracks in the forearm that are well-aged. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
