British private purchase flintlock New Land pattern pistol. "R Johnston" signed lock, British proofed and "LONDON" marked barrel. 9" round barrel of 0.66" bore, about 15-1/2 overall. Metal parts were cleaned at some point with a salt-and-pepper appearance on the lock and barrel. Stock is smooth with relatively few marks, may have been lightly cleaned at some point, showing a small crack at rear of lock mortise, a small crack above and below the rear lock bolt, and a small piece of wood missing where ramrod enters the stock. Mechanically good, though releases from half cock with moderate trigger pressure. Sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
