Plant's Manufacturing Co., .30 caliber cup-primed front loading revolver. Merwin & Bray, New York agent marked on top of barrel. This model is possibly the most popular of several inventions designed to circumvent the Rollin White/S&W patent on rear loading, bored through cylinders, as used on their 1st Model pistols. The Plant revolver accepted cartridges from the front of the cylinder. Ultimately, the design was made obsolete by the expiration of the White patent. Metal parts were cleaned, showing light surfaces overall with light pitting on the iron surfaces. Ivory or bone grips are very good, showing average wear and use, being free of cracks and chips. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
