T.J.STAFFORD NEW HAVEN CT, as marked on top of barrel, exhibition quality engraved and gold/sliver finished single shot derringer. Serial number 1357. Patent marking on butt. Fine quality New York style engraving of scrolls and punch dots on barrel and frame. Barrel is finished in silver plate, which is deeply tarnished and uncleaned, with some scattered stable bubbling from age. Gold plated frame has nearly all the original finish, being worn on on some of the high points. Antique ivory grips are very fine, worn smooth, and showing expected minor age cracks, but no damage of note. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
