Bacon or Hopkins & Allen .38 cartridge conversion revolver. Serial number 2639. 4" round barrel. Unmarked, percussion style revolver that was made by either Bacon or successor Hopkins & Allen, either made as a percussion and converted or made as a cartridge revolver from remaining percussion parts. Some were marketed under the "Dictator" trademark. Nice roll engraved cylinder and name "A Junker" in script on the frame. No history came with the name and no research has been done. Metal parts are mostly a dark uncleaned patina with minimal granularness, some well worn plated finish remains. Wood grips are fair, showing moderate wear and use with handling marks and a couple corner nicks, but free of cracks and major chips. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
