US Springfield M1863 Type I percussion musket, dated 1864 on lock. Untouched appearance overall with original length barrel and stock. Rear sight is absent, and original ramrod head was turned down smaller. Metal parts have an untouched rust patina overall with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Lower band retaining screw is broken. Stock is worn smooth with a mottled patina, does not appear to have ever been cleaned, shows some chips to the ramrod channel, small chip by barrel tang, and some very old slivers missing from the buttstock comb. Cartouches are faintly visible opposite the lock. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
