Andrew Wurffelin city of Philadelphia conversion M1816 musket. Done in the early days of the civil war, Wurffelin used leftover parts from Maynard conversion muskets, rendering the Maynard function inoperable and grinding down the lockplate hump. This example uses a make-do hammer, which is consistent with others observed and the example pictured in George Moller's book. Has faint traces of marking at barrel breech if one knows what to look for. Gun is in untouched condition with rich patina and scattered pitting on metal surfaces, which is heavier in the lock and barrel breech area. Stock is good, missing a small piece of wood on either side of the barrel tang, and scattered handling marks overall. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
