M1816 Springfield, Type III musket. "Cone style" percussion conversion. Date 1839 on lock and barrel tang. Excellent lock markings. Stock cartouche outline visible. Metal has dark uncleaned patina and scattered light rust. Little pitting, has a little in the nipple area. Lacking sling swivels. Stock very good, solid. Has one crack which was secured with wire a long time ago in the forearm. Has scattered marks from average use. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot. Always buying, trades of antique guns considered.
