French 1766 flintlock musket, signed on lock "Charleville" in script with "star-D" proof above. Barrel shortened to 35-3/4" with upper band relocated back. Metal parts have dark, untouched patina with some pitting in the barrel breech area. Hammer is a period British style replacement with nicely handmade replacement top jaw and screw. Frizzen face is repaired during the period of use. Stock is worn smooth with attractive patina, has some minor period chipping to the ramrod channel, several minor grain cracks in the right side of the forearm with two associated minor edge nicks, and a crack between the top of the lock and the barrel tang. Screw missing front triggerguard. Mechanically good, sold as a collector item only, not warranted safe to shoot.
